Jim Mora Fired as Seattle Seahawks Coach: The Seattle Seahawks fired Jim Mora after just one season yesterday, leaving the former NFC West champs without a coach, general manager, and president less than four years after they reached the Super Bowl.

There’s reason to believe that one with Pete Carroll‘s name on it could soon take its place.

The Seahawks fired Jim Mora after just one season earlier in the day and speculation on Mora’s replacement immediately centered on Carroll, the charismatic Southern California coach.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Seahawks chief executive officer Tod Leiweke flew to California before firing Mora to interview Carroll for the job. The newspaper said that Seattle — with team owner Paul Allen, the Microsoft Corp. tycoon for whom money is no limitation — is believed to be offering Carroll a five-year contract worth $7 million per season to be its president and coach.

That would be a raise of more than $2 million annually on what Carroll is believed to be earning at USC.

Pete Carroll‘s agent, Gary Uberstine, did not immediately return phone and e-mail messages left by The Associated Press on Friday night.

Jim Mora finished his only season in Seattle 5-11, after taking over his hometown team at the end of Mike Holmgren’s tenure.

Lee Corso Stroke Early Last Year,For a man who suffered a stroke in May 2009, Leland “Lee” Corso may be a little slower but there is still no stopping him.

The sports broadcaster and football analyst for ESPN, has been featured on ESPN’s Colleges GameDay program since its inception. He also appears annually as a commentator for the EA Sports NCAA Football.

“This is just a small bump in the road,” Corso said in a statement issued by ESPN. “A ‘not so fast, my friend’ in my game of life. I look forward to making a full recovery and returning to ESPN for my 23rd season analyzing the greatest sport in the world — college football.”

Lee Corso who was born in Lake Mary, Florida attended the Miami Jackson Senior High, where he also played quarterback.
