Rasheed Wallace Fined for Criticizing Referees

Posted in Basketball, Headlines on January 20th, 2010 by Michael Aldridge – Be the first to comment

Boston Celtics forward Rasheed Wallace was fined $35,000 for criticizing the referees who called the shots when they played against Dallas Mavericks and loss, the announcement was announced by NBA Wednesday.

Wallace criticized the officials following the Mavericks’ 99-90 victory over the Celtics on Monday.

Wallace, who was guarding German star forward Dirk Nowitzki, was whistled for his fourth foul with 3:56 remaining in the third quarter and went to the Celtics bench.

With Kevin Garnett sidelined, Boston countered Nowitzki with reserves Glen Davis and Brian Scalabrine but were unable to handle Nowitzki, who finished with 37 points and had 15 of 19 after Wallace received his fourth foul.

Wallace said NBA referees “don’t like no tough defense on (Nowitzki) so of course I get a whole lot of… calls, but that’s how the story goes. I ain’t worried about it.”

The Celtics will visit Dallas in March and Wallace said he expects the chance to even the score against the Mavericks.

“We will see them again,” he said. “There will be retribution.”
